Diary of Viking II accused China of using helicopter to protect their cutting off cable boats
Diary of Vietnam’s Viking II:
* 08/06/2011
- 5:20 am: Guard Vessels – Van Hoa 737 and 731 scouted the north of target
- 7:00 am: Van Hoa 737 and 731 closed to the west turning point and detected more than 15 fishing boats of China in the turning point.
- 8:45 am: Van Hoa 737 moved toward the Chinese boat 80105 and warmed (in Chinese) that the boat had violated Vietnamese sovereignty.
- 9:35 am: Chinese fishery administration vessel 303 responded to Van Hoa 737 that their fish boats would get out the area in 3 – 4 hours next. They informed that a boat had broken and needed time to fix rudder. Van Hoa 737 stood by to guard.
- 11:00 am: Van Hoa 737 was reported their retreat by the Chinese Fishery Administration Vessel 303. But few minutes after, this vessel noticed threateningly that they would continue to fish in the area.
- 11:30 am: An indefinite helicopter flew over Van Hoa 737 and Chinese vessels in low attitude. This helicopter was painted grey without brand. It flew around the area in about 10 minutes and left.
- 12:00 m: Viking II changed plan to avoid the Chinese vessels.
- 2:50 pm: a Chinese fishing boat left the Chinese route. Other vessels in front of Van Hoa 737 changed their route and came back to the North.
- 8:30 pm: Vietnamese guard vessel CR1 were protecting Viking II when the Chinese fishing boats ran behind. Viking II began to survey in protection of guard ships ahead.
* 09/06/2011:
- 6:00 am: when Viking II were working at 6o47,5’ North, 109o17,5’ West, the Chinese fishing boat 62226 ran across the cable in the left of the ship. The 62226 boat’s screw - propeller was broken and pulled follow Viking II in few hours.
- 8:20 am: Viking II escaped from all Chinese vessels’ chase. The Viking II has been fixing equipments and planning move away the area.
